rap...... whats the meaning ?

Music !!!!!!!!!?

Rapping (also known as emceeing, MCing, spitting, or just rhyming) is the rhythmic spoken delivery of rhymes and wordplay, one of the elements of hip hop music and culture. Although the word rap has sometimes been claimed to be a backronym of the phrase "Rhythmic African Poetry", "Rhythm and Poetry", "Rhythmically Applied Poetry", "Rapping About Poetry," "Racing Always Pacing," or "Rhythmically Associated Poetry", use of the word to describe quick speech or repartee long predates the musical form.[1]

Rapping, which is also known as Emceeing, Flowing, MCing, Rhyme spitting, Spitting, or Rhyming, can be delivered over a beat or without accompaniment. Stylistically, rap occupies a grey area among speech, prose, poetry, and song. Rap is derived from the griots (folk poets) of West Africa, Caribbean-style toasting, and American blues and jazz roots.

Rapping developed both inside and outside of hip hop since Jamaican expatriate Kool Herc first began doing his dancehall toasting in New York in the 1970s. In the 1980s, the success of groups like Run-DMC led to a huge wave of commercialized rap music. By the end of the 1990s, hip hop became widely accepted in mainstream music. Underground Hip-hop rapping from the 2000s has complex rhythms, cadences, an intricate poetic form, and inventive wordplay. Rap lyrics convey the street life from which hip hop originally emerged with references to popular culture and hip-hop slang. Although rap has become an international phenomenon, many types of rap deal with issues such as race, socioeconomic class, and gender.

Rap used to be about poetry with a good beat. It was about hard times and getting through them. Reflecting on that.

Now it's about gangsters and drugs violence and degrading women. That's just cRAP.
Reply:The word rap, derived from a 1960s slang word for conversation, generally consists of chanted, often improvised, street poetry accompanied by a montage of well-known recordings, usually disco or funk.
Reply:rap is a way of expressing feelings or stories of some ones life through rhyming and poetry. listen to great rappers and how they use metaphors, similies, and personification. this is used frequently in rap unlike country talking about "barbeque stains on my white tee shirt" WTF! gets me mad.

Reply:Rap: its the rhyming words to a hip-hop beat.

During the late '70s, hip hop was scratching, beats and beat boxing... rapping came from fast lines added to the beats and that kept up with the beats. Originally known as MCs, they started to emerge in the '80s as rappers because more and more people started creating bands that fronted a fast singer.

Reply:selling records to make money. that's the meaning of rap
Reply:Here is your answer!!!
Reply:rap has no meaning

it is simply something some people are getting rich off of right now.

It is simply some words mixed around with stoned techno music and some guy getting payed millions to sit there and tap his foot on the bass drum all through the song. It has no meaning, it is just an attempt at music, it missed.
Reply:Rap is not music! Rap is the attempt of someone with a mean ugly mind to get you motivated to think like they do and to do ill to others. The idea that killing, raping, robbing someone is good is without merit. Now I don't mean that anyone that 'talks' in their song is not music it is just that with Rap the message is normally evil and it will poison your mind and soul if you allow it to. I was lucky to have been raised in the Sixties and Seventies when most of the music was more understandable and the issues they sang about were things that you could help overcome or something that you could believe in.

I think that Rap has about ended its time with us as most people that listen to music want to feel better after a song is over than to feel like they now have to go out and do harm to someone else.

My personal opinion is that Rap is Crap! It just does not get any simpler than that! :-) Peace and Love!
