I am taking Spanish, and I have to do a project on music from Colombia, since it is a Spanish speaking country. For my project, I was thinking of playing some Colombian music for the class. Problem is, I'm not sure what to play. Does anyone have any suggestions of good, popular Colombian music. And by the way, I play violin, so I would prefer something towards classical music, if it's available. Any type of sheet music, or maybe just a midi would be very helpful. Thanks!

Question on handling music tracks purchased through Musicmatch..?
Tracks purchased on older Windows 2000 machines are no longer playable with Yahoo Music - Yahoo music is not supported on Win 2000, and as the machines I used to purchase the music are long since departed, I cannot find a way within Yahoo Music to deactivate those old machines, to allow the licenses to be refreshed within Yahoo Music....
Any ideas anyone ?
It s not a huge big deal, as I can burn them to CD and re-rip to MP3 if I have to, but I think this should be addressed in the migration from Musicmatch to Yahoo Music...
BTW: Media Monkey is way better as a Music Manager than either Musicmatch or Yahoo Music...

Anyway to get music off ipod w/o itunes?
my computer was totally erased, along with my itunes and all the music i had (roughly 9000 songs). is there any way to get the music from my ipod to my computer without the music on the ipod getting deleted? i dont want to buy a new ipod and get the music all over cause that costs money and lots of time, so is there some program that will get the music off my iPod without erasing the music, and can put the music on my computer and allow new music to be put on the iPod?

Are we seeing the end of the Big Band era?
With bands achieving fame through Myspace and the rapidly expanding underground music scene, are we witnessing a change in today's music scene. Is the notion of a few select bands becoming absolutley huge coming to an end?
In the current music world only Metallica and the Red Hot Chili Peppers stand as the last of the Big Bands. Yes, there are other bands like The Stones and The Who, who are still going, but as far as modern music goes (past 25 years) it is only Hetfield and Kleidis (SP) and Co. that remain as the last of the mainstream stadium rockers (The Boss incl).
With a eclectic music scene littered with hundreds of truly awesome up-and-coming bands, do you think we will ever see bands emulate the long careers and fan base of the likes of the Chilis and Metallica......?
To repeat the question then.........is the Big Band era coming to an end?

There will always be somebody who finds a way to establish themselves at the top and remain there, no matter the paradigm. Why not via myspace?

Reply:Things tend to be more short lived these days, most of the stuff in the charts is a "project" or a rap act "featuring" somebody else. Also most of the decent songs have alrady been written about ten times - there's only so much you can do with guitars, drums and 6 or 7 chords.
The good news is there's a lot more music out there that isn't just bands and pop and stuff. Try something different.

Help with music on my chocolate?
i am trying to put music on my chocolate, but everytime i get ready to sync it tells me i am not connected even though i am. here is what the instructions say.....
1.Click on the “V CAST Music Essentials Manager” desktop icon to open the application.
2.Use the USB cable to connect your phone to your PC.
3.Go to the “Get it now” menu on your phone and select “Get tunes %26amp; tones". Select "My music" in the “Get tunes %26amp; tones" menu, then select "Sync music".
4.You are now connected and the phone is set to sync mode.
Note: do not disconnect the cable during transfer. Press END or CLR to exit.
5.The phone “Connected” indicator will appear on the top right side of all the application windows.
6.The name of your phone will automatically appear in the “Music on” list box in the “Music on my phone” mode.

i have a phone memory card in too.

Every decade music has had a certain style, I mean you can tell what is 60s music, what is 70s music, what is 80s music, and then 90s brought out a new style but we're still pretty much using the same style of music as the late 90s. We have not come out with music that will represent this decade. It is sad? I mean if you heard a 90s-styled song, could u honestly tell the difference from Single digits-styled song? I have a problems with music videos. Everytime I watch music videos on my computer, it plays then it stops?
I would play music videos then it would stop and keep bluffering(Something like that) then it would do it all over again. It would do the same when I would listen music by audio, can somebody help me by telling me how would I stop my music videos from doing that. It also does that on music videos site such as Yahoo,Slacktime music videos, MSN music videos,YouTube music video. Okay well i have my computer but something
happend so i had to completly restart my
computer and doing that it deleted all my
music i had on my itunes. So now i open
my itunes libary and i have NO music. I was wondering if i can transfer the music i have

I really like to listen to music that you can dance to or some rock music. But that isn't good pump up music to workout to.

hi! ok so i have music in a share folder in itunes that i want to move into another folder in itunes called "my music". for some reason, i cannot move the music from the share folder into my "my music" folder. i tried right clicking, i tried copy but paste doesnt appear, i tried dragged the music file...NOTHING! please help! is there a setting i can click to "unlock" my ability to move music around in itunes from one folder to another?! For a project, I'm making a powerpoint, and for my powerpoint I want to put music in it, so I tried putting in the music, but it wont let me. I bought the music from itunes, which i think is a mp4, but I think in order for it to let me put the music on properly on the powerpoint, i think i need a mp3 music, and is there a way that i can put in a mp4 music into my powerpoint, or is there a free mp4 converter online?

My Music Folder?
I just bought a sandisk memory card for my motorola V3M so that I can play music. I had the phone flashed and it's now MP3 compatible. Everything I have read says something about "My Music Folder". Mind you I'm pretty computer capable, however where do I find this folder? Is it in my windows media player? Is it in the storage device when I plug the memory card into the USB reader, cause if so I can't find it. I even went to "My computer" opened the storage device folder, is the file somewhere in there? I was able to sync my music onto the memory card, however I can't bring it up on my phone. The music is on the card, that I am sure of but I can not open the music on the phone. I have even checked the "change storage device" to make sure I was in the right area. What am I doing wrong and where do I find that file "My music folder"?

I am having truoble putting music on my "home videos" I make. I CAN put music on there from CD's (After I "rip" them) But I have an Ipod also and I have music on itunes that I can not get on my movies. Everytime I try it said the music file is empty/It does not exsit/No idems match your search. I am not trying to get music on there that I have not bought(Like on the internet) this is stuff I have on my ipod. I hope I gave enough information so someone can help me. Windows movie maker does not support itunes AAC. you need to setup itunes so it rip your cds into MP3 OR download dbpoweramp and convert your song.

As far as I can work out, downloading music videos is far more legal than music, and Vuse has offered a stack of music videos over the months, but the problem is I want more.
There has to be somewhere where we can download music videos, even pay for. I hate iTunes music videos cause you can edit sizes, volumes, and the quality is random. I am an anal media geek who has parties all the time, and a larger array of HQ videos would be great. HD even better.

It's an open source, Okay then find the music video you want (search it) click on it, from there you'll see a link about half way down the page, eg: http://rapidshare8yu343kk4?kkk43download... copy and paste that link into a new Internet explorer or fire-fox window or tab, and click FREE on the rapid share website, it will make you wait about 20 seconds, put the key it gives you in box provided, there you'll be prompted with your download, save it to where you want it, (my docs etc) I also recomend downloading win rar to extract the files, right click on the file you downloaded and click extract, there you'll have a file next to the one you just downloaded, And your music video should be located in there for your viewing pleasures.

It's an open source, Okay then find the music video you want (search it) click on it, from there you'll see a link about half way down the page, eg: http://rapidshare8yu343kk4?kkk43download... copy and paste that link into a new Internet explorer or fire-fox window or tab, and click FREE on the rapid share website, it will make you wait about 20 seconds, put the key it gives you in box provided, there you'll be prompted with your download, save it to where you want it, (my docs etc) I also recomend downloading win rar to extract the files, right click on the file you downloaded and click extract, there you'll have a file next to the one you just downloaded, And your music video should be located in there for your viewing pleasures.

I personally feel that music has gone down hill. Back then music meant something. people sang from the heart. every now and then we get a good song playing on the radio, but most of the time all we're hearing is noise. I don't find it meaningful, i find it a way to use time. for some stuff, i don't even understand how there "music" is considered music.
Back then music was clean, there are ways to express feelings without saying every word in the book, somehow we lost this knowledge.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE music in general, including music of today. I just would like to know how others feel, sometimes i think i'm the only one who feels this way, so i would like to know...

So, I don't think there is an answer to your question. There is no way to say whether music has gone downhill because its so cluttered, ect. Its all about opinion. I like lots of music from different times and genres. GOOD music is what I like. But I actually do lean more towards 50s style songs.

Website with free music sheets illegal?
I am a 17 year old student in high school and want to start my own website, in which free music sheets will be distributed. i plan on accepting donations from people via paypal, and use ads on my website to make some money for college, and the only way i think i will be able to do this is by giving people something that they will love and appreciate, free music sheets.
I have the resources to produce these music sheets on my own. here is where my problem comes in. i plan on converting midi files into the sheet music, and then after some adjustments give them out on my website. since its from midis, the music well be pretty close to what may be the real copyrighted music. but since i will be tweaking the music sheets a little, it wont be the same, but it will be similar to the real music sheets.
so my question is, are any of my processes illegal? i don't want to be getting sued and screwed for the rest of my life so please help and thank you in advance

Heard Yahoo Music is being discontinued. Yet they are still soliciting subscriptions. What's up with that?
My music library was originally developed using Jukebox Musicmatch, and now I am about to migrate it to Yahoo Music, another dead-end. This is getting very frustrating and leads me to doubt the investment in any company offering to market a music library. Good thing I burned all the songs to CD's, but still, it seems obvious one cannot trust any music library on-line, and it causes problems when I try to open and play my music which needs regular changing of the associated program. Recently my Windows Player was denied authentication to play some of the music saved in Jukebox Musicmatch, now Yahoo Music. It's hard to keep up with this game. Any advice?

Data (E:) and music problem.?
I wanted to save my music to my E drive on Vista and a friend told me to change the location of the Music folder to E:\ so that my music would go into there and wouldn't clog up my C drive.
Now I can't open iTunes, when I try it says:
"The folder "iTunes" cannot be found or created, and is required.
The default location for this folder is inside the "Music" folder."
It won't let me restore the Music or (E:) drive back to the default location and also it changed the "Music" link in my start menu to "Data (E:)". I restored the default setting for that in my task bar settings and it changed back to "Music" but when I click on it, it takes me to "Data (E:)".
I deleted all my music from the (E:) drive and put it back in My Documents but it still won't work.
I tried systems restore too, but it said it failed or something.
Anyone know how to fix this please?

I deleated iTunes because we needed to restart the computer from scratch. That means all of my music in my library is gone.
I want to put more music on my iPod, But i want to keep The Music Currently on my iPod OUT of my computer

Music suggestions for conservative mother-in-law?
I'm trying to introduce my mother-in law to some new music that she'd like, but she's super-conservative and only likes country christian for now. She certainly doesn't like rap, hip hop, swearing, or music about romance. I need suggestions for some new music she might like. She was growing up in the 40's and 50's, but she said she doesn't like that era's music anymore.
She likes Jars of Clay and the contemporary christian (not hymn) music, but I'm looking to introduce her to something differant and preferably more tolerable to me, as neither myself nor my wife are christian.
Suggestions?

because if she is like my parents wich is so close minded, i don't think you should introduce them to any kind of new music, because they will reject anything, they will learn to like new things by their own, not by anyone's intentions, not even you or their own children.

While if they're quiet open minded, you can introduce them to almost anykind of music with an adequate explanation before it.
But, if she's so open minded, i don't think you need to do so, since she will explore on her own...
But, really there's nothing i could suggest until i met and really know what kind of person she is...

Reply:My suggestion is to become more secure in your own convictions. If the music is not bothersome on a sonic level (too loud and such) than the message should be irelevant for a truly secure person. If she likes it she likes it.

Music not showing up on my Ipod under the artists' name, but shows up under songs... what's up with that?
So i have the newest Ipod with Video capability... and when i look for music under "Mana" (the artist) only one song shows up but when i go looking for the songs under Songs, then the songs are there. I made sure the artist's name is correctly spelled, i even typed it in so they are all the same... but still the music is missing! What software do you recommend that's compatible with the Ipod so i can arrange my music and synch it to the ipod... it just seems Itunes has too many glitches... there's nothing more annoying than missing music. Or what else do you suggest i do to fix this missing music problem?

I recently imported some music into my "iTunes Music" folder on my computer. When I open iTunes, the music isn't in my library. How do I make sure the music I put into the correct folder shows up in my iTunes library and is playable and burnable? Thanks.

ok i'v been downloading music from limewire for a while now...i needed to delete some space on my pc so i thought mayb its the music thats taking up so much space so then i go to that one place that stores all ur music in a file for limewire i figured if i delete all that i would still have my limewire music library right? but the next day i wanted to listen to music and i see that it says it wont' work cuz it could not find the orignal file so then i went to the limewire library to see if my music was there and IT WASNT!!! i got soooo pissed and had no idea what to do i still dont know!!! so like omfg what the hell should i do??

From now onwards do like this when u download any song video or anything from limewire or Morpheus, therez a option in the bar there - cancel / resume /pause / preview / Explore / clear inactive.
ok.. after downloading click on Explore.it shows where the downloaded file is.
cut %26amp; paste the file in the folder where you store all music files (in other drive if u have)
now download Jet Audio Player.
i tell you thats the best player I've ever seen till now.
go to Google and search - jet audio player.
then put all your music files in to this players playlist.

Reply:Sounds like you deleted all your files. I would suggest getting a second drive and running it in your comp or getting an external drive and using that for file space. In this way you can always make copies of your music and important files to the other drive as a backup and you are much less likely to lose everything.

From now onwards do like this when u download any song video or anything from limewire or Morpheus, therez a option in the bar there - cancel / resume /pause / preview / Explore / clear inactive.
ok.. after downloading click on Explore.it shows where the downloaded file is.
cut %26amp; paste the file in the folder where you store all music files (in other drive if u have)
now download Jet Audio Player.
i tell you thats the best player I've ever seen till now.
go to Google and search - jet audio player.
then put all your music files in to this players playlist.

Reply:Sounds like you deleted all your files. I would suggest getting a second drive and running it in your comp or getting an external drive and using that for file space. In this way you can always make copies of your music and important files to the other drive as a backup and you are much less likely to lose everything.

I am writing a platform essay about the need for music in our elementary schools. What are some suggestions for what I can propose to do about the problem of schools eliminating music in our schools? What are some reasons why you think music is an important thing to have in an elementary school? My essay is titled "Music Makes the Difference"

Well it makes kids have a place where they can grow and learn about classical music place where they can fit in.
it helps them learn to be in a group and also
take leadership
It gives opportunities: if a child does want to take music lessons and the parents can not afford it the school is giving that child an opportunity that he would of never of had if not for the school.
It will bring the class mates closer together because they will be like a family.

Reply:Music programs have been relegated to "extra" status over the past many years. This is unfortunate because music is not just a luxury or a "fun" activity. Research has shown that children actually benefit (developmentally) from singing and (especially) playing musical games (for instance, London Bridge). If you want more information, check out the website below. I have been taking classes in Education Through Music for the past several years and find it makes a huge difference with my children.
Reply:It's said that students who do music perform better in mathematics than students who don't (and math is such a fundamental subject - with standardized testing and in the workforce when they grow up).
Reply:You should look up some research that connects music to brain development, I believe there is quite a bit. My father is a retired Music teacher and I believe the things we did at school as well as at home related to music greatly benefited my sister and myself, as well as helped to make us positive well rounded people.
At any rate, look up some research to support your stance.
