Music for the next generation?

Hi.

Unlike some music websites out there, my company is developing a new web application for aspiring music artists (Producers, DJ, Songwriters, etc) who have talents but can't get signed and/or don't want to be signed. It's an account where artists can sign-in (100% free account) and post their music/videos (not proprietary) and let their "fans" vote for the song uploaded. Also I;m planning to create an online music charts (similar to Billboards.com charts). Blogs and questions/answers is inclusive.

My question is:

1) What do you (music lovers) will like the web application to do (ie, create a calendar event where the fans can view where the artists will be performing...etc)

2) Any other ideas that can be useful to the upliftment of music?

Feel Free to put suggestions.

Thanks.

PS. Once completed, We will give credit to the best idea used on our application.

Music for the next generation?
First, awesome idea and concept. Thank you

You mentioned fans would be able to vote for best uploaded song. I'm assuming they would be able to vote for best uploaded video as well right? Then you could have like a music video type joint like TRL, hell even create some animated 3d hosts or get live hosts down the road. Internet is the future of TV.

I started my own online production company where I sell tracks to artists royalty free www.trackmasterz.com so I hear where you all are coming from and development is critical (its hard to think long term when technology turn around is so quick).

The billboard charts is ingenious and the blog is a must. What about live online radio? If they are voting for best songs/videos uploaded, why not do like the radio stations do and play those top 25 songs? Just an idea.

Great idea and concept, best wishes and keep fighting the good fight
