Wedding Music?

I am getting married in 3 months time - and trying to sort out music.

I have a list of songs I would like played for the reception (a mix of my favs, OH favs, and general music to keep others happy - including some Scottish tunes, since we are Scottish)

The thing is, I just want to know at what other points music should be played. I have the following thoughts (civil wedding):

1. walking up aisle.

2. during time of registry signing

3. back up aisle

4. a CD perhaps while we have photos taken and guests are doing nothing but waiting?

5. first dance

6. evening reception music.

Do you think I have it all covered?

Also any ideas on up and down aisle music? I love The Cure, Duran Duran, Roxy Music, The Cult, ABBA (I do i do i do??? - muriels wedding style??), Depeche Mode, Echo and The Bunnymen - that kind of music - so I don't want Celine Dion and stuff. Any ideas???

Wedding Music?
The amount of music is about right. I would definitely have some music for guests while they are waiting. Is it all at the same venue or are you having a registry office wedding then on to somewhere else after? I had mine in one place (manor house) and found the time between photos and meal starting people got a bit bored but luckily my hubbys uncle plays saxaphone and did an impromptu set!!!

One of my fave songs is Lovecats by The Cure. And I love cats so I think you should have that when signing the register!

I love a wedding. Can I come?

Reply:Fire Woman,

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

I have performed around 130 wedding ceremonies (religious). I'd like to offer some suggestions in answer to your questions.

Yes, you do have it all covered - and it's great you asked so far in advance.

If your wedding is going to be videoed, you don't want the hard-driving music. The hard music will override any other sound on the video.

If you like Abba, I'd suggest going only with Abba music. Pick different Abba tunes for different portions of your wedding. Their music is soft enough to hear other sounds of your wedding. I'm not a big Abba fan, but it would definitely suit your purpose.

I did a wedding last year and the couple had Enya's Orinoco Flow played as they walked down the aisle following the ceremony. It surprised everyone (including me), but it worked. Nothing like slowly walking up the aisle with everyone hearing, "Sail away, sail away, sail away...."

I wish you all the best in your wedding, and in your future life together.

"Ranger"
Reply:If you are having a sit down dinner reception, you may want to think about what will be played while everyone is eating.
Reply:hi, congratulations first. I had the following songs for my wedding.

1 walking down the stairs :spente le stelle- emma chapplin

2 dancing: Could I ever have this kiss... Whitney houston and Enrique Iglesias,

I also recommend you A moment like this from Kelly Clarkson and Say A little Prayer from Aretha Franklin.
Reply:7. The last dance of the evening.

We went to a wedding this weekend and for the last dance they played the cheesy 70's song "Still The One". When the song started, I though "ugh". But you know what? It was really great. All of the couples at the wedding got up and danced. The grandparents, the parents of the bride and groom - - everyone thinking about their own wedding, I think. And it was a happy, dancey song, so the singles got up and danced, too. It was really a warm and happy way to end the evening.
